Rainy day off

I am getting pretty sick of the weather here lately… All I wanted to do today was go to the playground and have family day but mother nature had other plans. We played inside all day and I worked on a few little things around the house:)

I have been dying to make a chalkboard for the kitchen counter- I can’t tell you how many times I have left sweet notes (and by sweet I mean a grocery or honey-do list) for Chad and he hasn’t seen them on the counter so this will solve that problem! ( I think Chad was more excited about it than me because I let him write the first message!)

I don’t know if it was smart of me to do this but I just primed and painted the frame and then painted the chalkboard straight onto the glass… it worked!

This next thing was sort of a fail I think..I am not sure where I’m going to put it and I don’t know if it looks all that great haha.  I bought a plain wooden tray at Michaels for $.65 and painted it yellow. I got a piece of scrap book paper and lined the bottom and modge podged it …

meh… It’s okay I guess. I have been dying to tie some yellow into my kitchen but wasn’t sure how to do it so I guess this works.

I moved it to my desk…later in the day.

And the last thing I did was to take one of my spray  painting projects and do a little chalkboard paint magic with it:

It needs some touching up for sure but this little face was excited to have his own cookie jar!

Also I have to discuss how much I love our backyard view and the trees that are starting to bloom!!!

  1. Looks great! How on earth do you find the time to keep your house looking so clean and do some cool projects with a little one? I've got 2 little ones and I NEVER seem to find the time to just keep my house clean let alone do some projects I'm dying to do.

Btw, I found you on the Thrifty Thursday blog hop and I'm your newest follower now. I'd love it if you could stop by at http://www.thriftymilitarymommy.blogspot.com

  6. Oh I love the little yellow tray! I think it's just perfect but you can always glaze it to bring down the yellow if it's too much? BTW found you from The House Creative!
