Summer was a blur....

Where did the summer go? We have obviously been super busy and I haven't had time to update. I got pretty bad about posting pictures but that doesn't mean I haven't been taking them! We are getting settled in the new house and little by little it is starting to feel like home. Chad has been busy working his night shift 6-6 and I am still loving my job with Marriott. Cole is now 13 months old and growing like a weed. He is talking more and more (mostly babbling) but he has about 6-8 words that we "think" he is saying. I can't believe how old he is starting to look. His hair is coming in thicker and curlier (and also REDDER). Is that even a word? Whatever, he is the most darling little person I know and is so pleasant to be around! These were from last night...we took him to the carnival at broadway hoping he would be able to ride some sort of ride but hes still too shrimpy! Chad took him in the fountain instead- what a nice daddy!

The new house is coming along. We havent gotten to decorate or paint yet because other things have been getting in the way. Because this was a foreclosure, the previous owners decided they would take ALL of the appliances with them when they left. Nice, huh? So this meant once we closed, we had to buy EVERYTHING brand new. My parents were awesome and helped us with a washer and dryer but other than that, we have been swipng our debit cards constantly trying to buy everything else. We have big plans for a nice fence and some custom landscaping in the near future so stay tuned for that. I have been working on a few DIY painting projects and they're coming along slowly, but surely. I will post pics of my outdoor coffee table, rocking chairs, and bookshelf when I am finished. As you can see in the following pic, I am in the process of painting my rocking chairs black to match the shutters. We are so proud of this little house because we have been saving so long for it. It sounds totally lame, but the house reminds me of the sacrifices that we both made over the last 3 years (especially Chad) and how all of the time spent apart and money saved was worth it in the end. We are both really happy to finally have our own home in a place we love!

  1. That is awesome Lauren. It doesn't sound corny at all- it's so nice to have something that represents those sacrifices. I love your house and can't wait to see your projects you have planned for it. Have a great weekend!

  2. So good to see you post! I cannot believe how red Cole's hair is. Congrats again on the house. It is a lot of work, but so worth it in the end.
