Saying Goodbye….

Today we said “goodbye” to my PopPop… Here are some photos from the day. Chad was in the ceremony since my cousin Darren had to report to his reserve unit this weekend and couldn’t make it to NC. Darren is a Marine out in Cali and Chad was happy to stand in his place today… we missed you Darren! Our Pop was cremated so there was no casket- just a beautiful urn that he picked out himself. Chad carried the urn into the church, saluted him, and when the ceremony was over, followed the priest out to the gravesite where 2 Sailors were waiting to fold his flag and another played Taps. It was really a beautiful ceremony and I know Pop would have loved it. I am so happy we were able to make the trip up there to be with everyone. It was so much different than any other funeral I had ever been to and I am so thankful that Chad was willing to wear his blues again to honor my grandfather.
