Spring has sprung

It’s finally spring! Today our family day consisted of a few trips to Walmart to buy stuff to pretty up our yard for the spring :) Our original plan for the day was to go to the beach but being that it was a little chilly for Cole, we decided to get some much needed yardwork done!

Here is before we planted the flowers and laid 17 bags of black mulch! We got perennials this year so hopefully they will live for a few years- gardening is expensive! Everything we planted last year died within weeks and we vow to take much better care of our yard this year!

We got started on this project when Cole was down for his nap so when he woke up, we had to find a way to contain him while we finished. This was all I could come up with!!!

  1. [I can neither confirm nor deny that he ate 6 cookies, 2 pieces of cheese, and 2 yogurts while we hurried to finish..]

I have to give Chad tons of credit for helping to pick out our flowers. He had to go back to the store for more flowers and he told me that he was paying special attention to the tags to see which would be good in sun vs. shade and which were perennials or annuals. He is so cute! He picked out some Columbines and violets and I love them! Way to wear your “gay gardener's hat” for the day!

What kind of family event could be complete without our favorite little red-headed buddy? He was SO excited to help me water the flowers (and dirt) this morning!!

We love it!

Also for some more exciting news, we bought our fence! This is what it will look like when it’s all installed and we can’t wait! Should be done by the time we go to Florida in May.

Our next big project will be patio furniture. What good is a fenced in backyard without a place to kick back and enjoy a barbeque?

    You must live in the sunny south! I'm dying for spring weather. Would you believe me when I tell you my kids went to school with snow pants, mitts and hats on today? I can't guarantee they'll leave them on once they arrive but nonetheless they got on the bus with them. I'm a new follower and your blog is beautiful as is your family
